in its 30th year, the Glastonbury Chorus draws members from all over
the greater Hartford area, with the preponderance of singers coming
from towns east of the river. The Chorus
presents two public
concerts a year and brings its music to local nursing, convalescent,
and senior living facilities. The Chorus has also performed at a
variety of civic and community events, and supports the local food bank
by collecting non-perishable food items at all its concerts. The
chorus rehearses weekly from September through May. New singers
are welcomed in January (for the spring concert)
and September (for the holiday concert). Auditions are
The Chorus Invites New Members
Glastonbury Chorus invites both returning and prospective new members
to a “meet and greet” on Wednesday, September 14 at 7:00 PM
in the Band Room at Gideon Welles School, 1029 Neipsic Road in
Glastonbury. The gathering will provide an opportunity for people
who are interested in the Chorus to talk with current members and join
in an abbreviated rehearsal.
The Glastonbury Chorus welcomes members in all voices – soprano, alto, tenor, and bass.
are not required, just a love of music and the desire to perform.
Singers who are at least 18 years of age are invited to join.
Although many Chorus members have sung with other school, church, or
community groups, prior choral experience is not required.
September 21, rehearsals will take place on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 to
9:00 PM, at Smith Middle School, 216 Addison Road, in Music Room
2. (Note that this is a different location from the “meet
and greet” on September 14.) New members are welcome to
join through the end of September.
The Chorus will present a holiday concert on Sunday, December 4 in the Smith Middle School Auditorium at 4:00 PM.
